Australia's Top Selling Sweetener made with Certified Organic Stevia
Stevia is a non toxic all natural sweetener used as a substitute for Sugar. It originates from a small South American shrub "Stevia Rebaudiana Bertoni". Unlike Sugar, Stevia has no calories and reduces the craving for sweet and fatty foods. It prevents tooth decay and does not give a spike in blood sugar levels.
Stevia is also rich in calcium, phosphorous, as well as sodium, magnesium, zinc, rutin, Vitamin A, Vitamin C and over 100 phytonutrients. Unlike the artificial sweeteners Aspartame and Sucralose, Stevia is completely non toxic. It is many times sweeter than sugar and comes in powdered form, liquid or tablets. Although only discovered in the 1800's by a scientist Antonio Bertoni, the Native Guarani Indians of Brazil have used it for over 1500 years as a sweetener, a digestive aid, a tonic and as a topical aid in wound healing.
Stevia is now fully approved by FSANZ (Food Standards Australia New Zealand).
Professor Midmore, from Central Queensland University said that "we see stevia becoming a significant ingredient for community use in the fight against obesity and the associated metabolic syndrome and diabetes".
